In addition, Christianity continues to be largest religion in the world according to a recent Pew Research study as can be seen at: Religious Landscape Survey of 2013 - Pew Research and global biblical creationism is seeing rapid growth in the world as well (see: Global creationism ). Meanwhile, the worldview of atheism continues to not only lose global market share, but it also shrinking in its number of adherents. Atheists are now only 1.8 percent of the world's population (See: Global study - atheism is in decline).
Will these global trends affect the Western World? Professor Eric Kaufmann who teaches at the Birbeck College, University of London told a secular audience in Australia: "The trends that are happening worldwide inevitably in an age of globalization are going to affect us." As early as 2020/2021, Western countries will see a significant reversal of secularism/atheism/agnosticism and that trend will accelerate. Furthermore, with many Western countries accruing increasing debt loads, economic conditions in the world could see a significant decline which would tend to favor evangelical Christianity and religiousity and not atheism as people in distress often cry out to God (see: Economics and Darwinism/atheism ).
